Preseason: OKC Thunder

It's about to happen. This is about to be the rivalry of the NBA. Two young small market teams that are undoubtedly similar. Also it's the Grizzlies first game in FedEx Forum. If you're in Memphis then what you know about that? Nothin', except that punches fly at 8 o'clock sharp.

And, as you're about to find will be a common occurrence, I present your storylines of the night:

Clones- Isn't it weird how freaking similar these teams are in terms of personnel? Kevin Durant is Rudy Gay 2.0, James Harden is a crappy O.J. Mayo, Hasheem Thabeet and BJ Mullens both don't know what they are.
Allen Iverson- Does he suit up again, attempting to thoroughly confuse every fan in the arena?
Fluketastic- The Grizzlies sucked at passing and rebounding last season. They straight balled last night. Were we looking at an aberration, or a possible trend?
Pregame Show- I'm a believer that a ballin' pregame routine at least triples the level of atmosphere in an arena. Last season I went to a Cavs game against the freakin' Bobcats and people were into for the first quarter just because their production values are so high. Will the Grizzlies whip out their new show tonight? Or wait for the season? Or wait for A.I.? So much drama!
Body Slam- If Zach Randolph falls on Nenad Krstic I'm convinced that "Special K" would snap.
Jumping Competition- Russell Westbrook and Rudy Gay are participating at halftime. Rudy takes Russell down in the sandpit after a controversial ruling.

Is the game televised in Memphis?

All 82 Thunder regular season games will be broadcast here, and in HD :-)
…however some jackass dropped the ball and several pre-season games won’t be on TV at all including this one! Ridiculous.

No preseason here at all, and I think we don’t even get like 12 of the games during the season. Don’t know about HD either.

Sucks...

I’m surprised they just don’t black Grizzlies games out because of attendance. I remember when the Thunder played there last year and I was like do people there know this is an NBA team or do they think its D-League?

I wasn’t trying to take a shot at you guys or anything, I think its kinda crappy they don’t get any support. They are like an orphan that nobody seems to want but everyone would be lucky to have.

Well you're right.

Our attendance was really terrible, but front office is claiming we’ve been top 10 in sales since the Iverson signing.

Also Memphis never built a fanbase because, quite frankly, the Pau Gasol teams weren’t particularly likeable. Nobody wanted to pay to see Pau; Battier was pretty much the only player the fans supported.

Ya, but there should be no excuse now...

With all these exciting young players. Pretty competitive game and the few highlights I saw the arena looked empty :-( ….I know its pre-season, but thats the way it looked during the regular season last year too, I hope they get the fans to show up this year or they may be headed elsewhere yet again.

…and Really? A.I.? All these great young players and Mr “Practice” is gonna put them in the seats?
