O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay got in a verbal fight during a timeout in last night's game against Denver. Both players insist that their relationship is fine. One has to worry if this will effect contract negotiations.

Call me crazy turtle

But I thought the NBA cut off the extension after today. Can an extension get done if it hasn’t already?

(I’ll admit, I’m not a Rudy Gay fan.)

I'm trying to figure it out...

I don’t have best access to news while abroad — he may or may not be extended. I’m almost positive that he was not, however.

dj - will any more information be released?

what were they arguing about? was it something as simple as a missed assignment or is this some long lasting frustration b/t the two that finally boiled over?

In the article this is what was said (by Tillery)
"I told them to shut up so we can get on with the rest of the game," Hollins said. "It’s not about you. It’s about us trying to win a game. We can’t stand here with you guys going back and forth. It was a heat-of-the-moment incident. They get along. They’re just competitors. They both want to succeed."

Mayo thought the Griz still had a chance to win if they could just stop trading baskets.

"We’re both competitors. We just felt that defensively we weren’t communicating," Mayo said. "Our energy was going down and we said some things. But we got it situated, and continued to play the game."

Gay said the incident was "nothing" and his hope is that people won’t blow it out of proportion because of rumors he didn’t get along with Mayo from last season.

"It’s not what people think it was," Gay said. "Me and O.J. were together all summer. We’re fine."
