Allen Iverson 'Would Love to Play' for Grizzlies

From beat writer Ronald Tillery at the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

Free-agent guard Allen Iverson may be moving closer to signing with the Grizzlies.

Iverson, 34, wrote on his Twitter account Thursday that "Memphis is a place that I would love to play. The Grizzlies have good young players with a great upside. I love the city of Memphis too.

"I would lead by example. I could show how important it is to work hard everyday, play the game the right way, & just like it's your last!"

The Griz made a second offer to Iverson on Tuesday, trying to lure him with a one-year deal that starts at $3.5 million and is loaded with incentives.

So sounds like the offer is becoming more and more legitimate. Worth noting also Iverson is a judicious Twitterer, so unless he is honestly very interested I find it unlikely that he would throw this out there. Remember that Miami, likely his other main suitor, has recently been burned by Twitter, so its safe to say hard-liner Pat Reilly won't be particularly thrilled with Iverson's messaging about Memphis. I'm sure Iverson and his agents know as much.

In other words Allen Iverson is cutting even more ties around the league with this behavior, while only strengthening his connection to Memphis. Sounds like this process might be coming to a close to me.
