If he kinda has the mentality that he still should be a 35, 40-minute player, I don’t think that will be successful. I don’t think coach Hollins will be able to figure that out; I think if AI realizes that he’s a 20 to 25-minute player, and on some good nights a little bit more, I think he can still have a major impact on a basketball team."

Does George Karl have some sort of history with Lionel Hollins, or is he just being mean?
Dude publicly, and preemptively, called Hollins out for not being able to handle Iverson’s ego.

I know of nothing
I can’t think of any history between the two off the top of my head, but this is straight nasty.
I wonder how often Karl and Iverson talk. That would definitely be the most important variable in determining how credible this is.

I'm wondering
if GK is making a statement about Hollins’ ability to figure out minutes to keep AI happy, or if his statement is more about whether AI’s mindset is the correct one to be able to help the team? I think maybe he’s saying that Hollins won’t be able to find the minutes to keep everyone happy, which is more of a “there’s simply not enough minutes” thing than a “Hollins isn’t a good enough coach to figure out AI.”

I think that reading has some merit, but man...
… “I don’t think coach Hollins will be able to figure that out” sounds pretty awful out-of-context, doesn’t it? And in-context, it doesn’t sound great either.
But George isn’t exactly known for his tact.
