Around SBN: An Explanation For Some Of The Perplexing HOF Snubs

File this one under questionable at best, the Golden State Warriors beat writer posted on his blog that the Grizzlies offered O.J. Mayo for Monta Ellis.

We knew the Grizzlies attempted to acquire Ellis earlier in the season and were rejected, but it was assumed that deal centered around Mike Conley and picks.

O.J. Mayo is still believed to be relatively close to untouchable.

HMMMM?

I follow the #Grizz pretty close year round and since this is the first I’m hearing of this I find it a lil hard to believe, But I don’t work in the front office so you never know. I personally like O.J. WAY more than Monta but he can ball with the best, no doubt about that.

Originally Warrior fans were meh on this trade…but then we heard on GSOM that Thabeet was also offered in the trade, which changes everything…A lot of people in the Bay Area, if true, would have definitely pulled the trigger on OJ/Thabeet for Ellis….would have allowed us to maybe move Biedrins contract.

I personally wanna keep Beans and Ellis and see what the Dubs can do when we actually get healthy…but just wondering if you heard about Thabeets involvement, what you guys think about him, or if, like Charlie mentioned…this was a completely bogus rumor?

My icon is a testament to the Dubs ability to play defense.

I think it's potentially pretty bogus...

Although it does have some legs. Anyhow, Thabeet is practically already a toxic contract in his rookie year since he’s years from producing even though he’s making like $4 million a year from here on out.

its only toxic because he doesn't play....

I got a q for you grizzlies fans. What do you think of his game/potential going forward? I dont think anyone expects him to be hakeem or shaq, but does he have potential to be that rebounder/defensive center.

His contract is really only toxic if he doesn’t play though. And w/ Gasol that looks to be the scenerio…. How do you feel about passing on tyreke, curry, bj and others pg’s though. Curry would have been a nice fit.

I mean I can only speak for myself...

But I’m obviously pretty pissed that we passed up on Tyreke Evans (especially since he was so popular with Memphis U) and Stephen Curry.

Anyhow Thabeet is not playing because he’s not good enough to contribute, not because there isn’t enough minutes. I think Coach Hollins would love it if Marc played at PF a little and dropped his minutes so Thabeet could get on the floor for 20 or so, but Thabeet hasn’t ever earned even close to that much time.
