GameThread: Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies

Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies, Mar 1, 2010 7:00 PM CST

Greg-oden_medium

After winning 10 games in a row at home, it's clear that the Grizzlies feel like they've been spoiling their hometown fans. They haven't won in Memphis in exactly a month; the monster upset over the Lakers on February 1st was their last winner in the Forum.

The Portland Trailblazers aren't going to roll over to end the losing slide, either. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, and company are winners of 3 of their last 4 and trying to break into the West playoffs despite losing both Greg Oden and his backup Joel Pryzbilla.

Star-divide

Because of their missing bigs, the Trailblazers used to be a great matchup for the Grizzlies, but Portland added Marcus Camby at the trade deadline. Andre Miller and Roy have significantly more size than either Mike Conley or O.J. Mayo, though Rudy Gay does match up well against Nicholas Batum and Martell Webster.

But most obvious problem for the Grizzlies is depth. The Blazers run deep, with Rudy Fernandez, Jerryd Bayless, and Webster giving them a huge punch off the bench. Darrell Arthur and Hamed Haddadi will need to run all over Juwan Howard and Jeff Pendergraph to make up for that bench.

By the way...

The Grizzlies last game against the Blazers was arguably the worst game of the season.

untrue – attendance is way up from last year. Grizzlies did what they had to do in order to make the playoff push. Just some bad luck with what happened to Brewer. The bench is not getting it done. Darrell Arthur is too rusty unfortunately.
