GameThread: Memphis Grizzlies at Chicago Bulls

Memphis Grizzlies at Chicago Bulls, Mar 4, 2010 7:00 PM CST

Is it just me or do the Grizzlies have a ton of back to backs this season? After beating an ice cold New Orleans team at home the Grizzlies are booking it to Chi-town for this game against the suddenly red hot (by the East's standards) Chicago Bulls.

Derrick Rose and the new and improved Mike Conley is obviously the key matchup here. I wouldn't be surprised to see O.J. Mayo guarding Rose at times, since Hinrich isn't much different size-wise and is an easier matchup for Mike, but when Conley's on D-Rose he has got to keep him out of the paint.

Taj Gibson and Brad Miller probably isn't the frontcourt to stop the Grizz, though, so even if Rose has his way with Conley, the Grizzlies still have a huge size advantage. Look for them to try to bang it inside even more than usual, especially since Vinny Del Negro isn't exactly a master of defensive scheming.

Solid Win...

Conley looked decent and ZBo did what does best.

back to back

they had 11 back to backs last season and 14 this season.

I read also that it’s not necessarily the number of back-to-back’s that makes a schedule hard – it’s the number of back-to-back’s where your opponent does not have back-to-back. For Grizzlies I am thinking most of our back-to-backs have been against teams coming off a break. They got a tough sched but so does everyone this year because of the economy. they had to try best to save money by having more back to backs and more 4 out of 5s than normal. Also it’s the reason we played the Clippers 3 times in one month for example

Yep. Although...

It is true that the Grizzlies have the hardest schedule in the league (I lost the link, but it is what it is).

I forgot about the economics thing, but now that you say it, it makes sense. Seems like we’ve played Clippers then Lakers pretty much every time we’ve been to West Coast.
