Vasquez Fan Here

Hey, I am not a Grizzlies fan, but I really have no problem with your team, and "Straight Outta Vancouver" is the funniest thing I've heard all day. I'm a huge Maryland Terrapins fan, however, and I just wanted to see if you guys feel the same way I do about the lack of minutes Vasquez has been receiving. I watched this kid light it up for four years, becoming the only ACC player ever to record over 2000 points, 700 assists, and 600 rebounds. He won the Bob Cousy Award (Best Collegiate PG) last year, over John Wall of UK/Washington. I know he's not the most athletic guy in the world, but go back and take a look at his craftiness and flat out ability to put the ball in the bucket, and I think you'll be impressed. I just think it would be worth a shot for the Grizzlies to make him their number 2 PG. Agree? Disagree?

Thanks for posting! I too am a Vazquez fan because he is a determined athlete who proved himself in a tough ACC conference. He’s tall for a point guard and physical but at the time he is not the most qualified back-up for our style of play. Our team has changed drastically since the beginning of the season to become a “helter skelter” team on defense and a paint scoring team on offense. Because Grevy isn’t the swiftest of foot or the best distributor, we sought out other PG options to back up Mike Conley. Because we have Jason Williams and Ish Smith now, Grevy hasn’t even been dressing out. He like the Grizzlies other rookie Xavier Henry are stifled by the Grizzlies new found guard depth and are having to wait their turn. No need to worry though, with a strong summer showing, Grevy should be able to make the roster next year and see playing time.

I agree.

I think it’s a process. with Vazquez. Jason Williams is a short-term option, a win-now point guard. And Ish Smith can be beaten, easily, by Vazquez for the back-up point guard. Greiv just needs to shore up his defense, really. Think he’s got a future with the team for sure… thanks for the discussion!

Get better J Dubb

and get Vazquez’s a$$ back on the bench where he belongs. Mark my words: J Dubb will lead this group with his veteran experience past the first round – period. The guy has a ring for God’s sake – and did it with D Wade before baby LBJ decided he needed to ‘take his talents’
Point is: J Will is by far the best 2nd option to Conley or even better – both on the floor as 1 and 2. We beat San Antonio at home last time doing this!
