Grizzlies Leave Home With Win, Have Layover in Jersey Tonight
The Grizzlies began their five-game home stay last Monday night with a loss to the Spurs that left them a game under .500. After last night's 93-83 win over the Houston Rockets, Memphis has since flipped their record, concluding the home stand a game above even. Next step: Shake the magnetic force of that damn .500 mark that has been pulling the Grizzlies near the last two weeks.
The Rockets game last night was -- along with last Friday's victory over Indiana -- one of the more encouraging, if seemingly fleeting, performances lately for the sometimes shooting-challenged Grizz. In short they scored well from everywhere: 48 percent from the floor, 5-for-9 from three and 18-of-21 from the line along with stifling defense, which we'll get to in a second. The even keel scoring from start to finish was huge, and showed just how important playing regularly solid is for Memphis, rather than at times playing as highly efficient world-beaters and others with a lethargic ineffectiveness that drags the team into the muck from time to time.

That Rockets game was a must win
I’m glad the Grizz pulled thru. It helps us in the standings immensely because who knows, we might be in a tie breaker situation with the Rockets down the line.
With LA from the Blazers injured, we have to use this time to gain ground in the West. Take care of business in NJ and we are seeded in the playoffs again. If we can beat Denver again,(we should, I think Gallinari is injured) and defeat the Warriors as well that will put us 5-6 games over .500, right up there with the Lakers.
Also: we’ve beaten them twice now, meaning that we hold the tie-breaker with both teams finish the season with the same record. It probably won’t matter, but it’s nice to know.

With as jam packed as the West is this year, I think its definitely possible it comes into play. Thats another reason the Utah loss stung so much the other night.
It was a particularly small egg...thats why I asked.

I was going to mention that, but I decided to remain optimistic. God, those losses stung. They have NO backcourt.

I sincerely hope Kevin Martin gets a vote for Defensive Player of the Year.
That was a very encouraging game last night. Houston is always a tough match up for us, and McHale has them playing playoff basketball, so to beat them like we did, well…it was just nice. Can’t let our guards down against Jersey tonight. I’d hate for Williams to make us look silly. Houston has OKC tonight, and Dallas and Denver play each other. Win tonight, and we’re gaining ground on someone.

You misunderstood.
I hope he’s one of the people who gets to vote. As in, after the performance Tony put on him last night, he would vote for him obviously.

Haha, my bad. I thought it would be pretty easy to understand since Tony Allen completely shut Kevin Martin down last night.
